Saturday 21st April saw a bumper crowd coming out for the monthly CF31 Bridgend Street Market, more stalls and a glorious hot day. What’s more we hosted our first ever ‘meet the brewer’ session with Bridgend’s latest brewery, Dog’s Window Brewery.
Lee Ralph, or Mr Dog’s Window (as he is now known) has been a long time customer of ours and in fact came to our rescue at the very first CF31. When we sold out of all our stock he kindly volunteered to go to a local brewery to restock us, and we’ve been friends since”.
Lee, a professional photographer, started home brewing and was keen to get our opinion. Soon Lee outgrew his initial kit and regularly invited a few friends around his house to sample his recipes. After much support and encouragement, Lee commenced his journey to open his own brewery.
Following Lee’s journey has been very exciting, he’s developed a range of exciting beer styles offering something a different, it seemed only natural to invite him to our stall at CF31 to officially launch the brewery.
To say the beers went down well would be an understatement, Lee was quite humbled by the day “I was almost lost for words with the response I had for the brewery launch in Bridgend town centre today. So many people purchased Dog’s Window beer that I had to ask my wife to bring more stock down. Not just once but twice!!! Everyone who sampled our beers went home with some, it was such a boost to our pride that it was so well received. A huge thank you goes out to Neil from Wales Ales for premiering a brand new beer.”
The first customer of the day was a renowned fellow brewer who gave the beers a resounding thumbs up, high praise indeed, with all customers enjoying the wide range of beers from Belgium Blonde, Saison, to traditional amber ales, with some non-ale drinkers and lager drinkers proclaiming they don’t drink ale only to find themselves thoroughly enjoying the beers. There was even a celebrity visit the stall, the dog from Dog’s Window himself!
If you fancy trying the beers then they’ll be on sale at the next CF31 Street Market on Saturday 19th May, or if you can’t wait that long you can get them through Wales Ales at www.walesales.com or direct from Dog’s Window Brewery at www.dogswindowbrewery.com.
